Look what I just got!

I just received a huge Fed Ex box with my new scrapbook table in it...very exciting. The pictures are sideways because I couldn't lift the monstrous box right side up. (Thanks to the Two Peas message board for the heads up about FREE shipping and handling and the furniture sale at Target.) I have had my eye on this for quite some time now. All that need's to be done now is the assembly...bummer. This is normally a project that I would tackle right away, but since the site is up and the kits are for sale first thing tomorrow morning at 8:00 am CST it will just have to wait! I saw that Jamie Waters, my guest designer, posted her layouts on her blog with a link to Freehand Scraps today. If you don't read her blog, you definitely should start. Her photography is amazing and so is her scrapbooking which makes for a great combination! You can read her blog at http://www.watersfive.typepad.com/ I had a blast working with her, and she is such a sweet person. I hope to work with her again in the future!

In other news...it's officially freezing here. Absolutely a BLIZZARD out right now. High of 28 degrees with snow for the next 3 days is not very exciting! I have the Weather Channel on my desktop and they have a little reader/slide show that has the warmest location in the US at that particular time. So I have to give a big shout out to Okeechobee, FL. It was 78 degrees there this morning! Enjoy that. I really need to take that off of my desktop...it's too depressing to see what I am missing out on.

Also I am going to do my first giveaway. Watch for a post tomorrow with pictures of a Valentine gift that a good friend of mine made for me. (She graciously is making another one, just so I can share one with you!) It is seriously CUTE! As well as very functional! Leave a post there tomorrow, and I will randomly draw a winner! Stay WARM!

Little Whispers

Tonight I heard a little whisper voice after I tucked Tanner into bed. It's usually...I need another drink of water...I need to go potty...what are we doing tomorrow...is it a school day?...is it a church day?...um, I forgot to tell you one more thing mom...it's too dark in my room...can you leave the door open...can I sleep in your room...etc.etc.etc. Tonight I tucked him in, and we prayed and I told him "hugs and kisses, mommy loves you" to that he whispered "hugs and kisses to ya too...love you momma." PRICELESS! It's little moments like these that make my heart sing. I write these kinds of things down because they are the perfect journaling in my scrapbooks. Tanner is just at that age where he is completely honest. He tells you exactly how he's feeling and what he would like. It's such a pure and innocent age. So when he says things like "you're the most beautiful girl in the world"...he really means it. He isn't just saying it. I love it! What mom wouldn't? I would encourage you (if you have kids) to take the time to write down all the fun things your little ones are saying. I carry a small notebook in my purse with me so I am always prepared to jot this or that down. Plus it's very handy for the grocery shopping list! Then when you get to a random photo that doesn't necessarily have a topic associated with it you can pull out your notes of the things they have said and voila...instant journaling!

So Excited!

So here it is...way too late at night, um... I mean morning, but had to say that I am so excited for the BIG launch. This dream of mine is really coming true! I am finishing up last minute details and the designers work is loaded on the site. We will be going live in just a few short days. Yeah! I would like to introduce you to the two ladies who have brought even more inspiration to Freehand Scraps. The first is the wonderful Jamie Waters. Her reputation proceeds her, but she is so talented and is one of my top 3 favorite scrap artists of all time! The second is my dear friend Amanda Smith, my favorite scrapbooking buddy, and you are going to LOVE her work! (I so wish we lived closer!) It's so amazing to me how many different things you can create with the same supplies. This kit truly inspired me to scrapbook some of my favorite photos that I had laying around, waiting for a proper home in an album. I had so much fun playing with it. I scrapbooked some pictures that I took over the summer at an old barn down the road from our house. I had this vision of doing a photo shoot at a farm with a red barn as the backdrop. I was new to town and saw a very cool old house, that just happened to have a very old red barn too. SO, I did the unthinkable and actually stopped and knocked on the door to ask their permission. They were totally gracious and we had a great time getting to know them a little. By the time we left, they sent us home with a pile of vegetables from their garden. They were so sweet and the kids loved their dog "Sarge." So if you are wishing that you had a wonderful spot for a photo shoot...think outside the indoor studios that are the most common professional places to take the kids. Why not an old barn or a place with great architectural elements? Anything that is visually different is always a great idea to step up your photography. I recently took pictures at our local City and County building where they have such cool, old architecture. I really liked the way they turned out. I'm sure I'll go back to take some more with the kids in them next time. Sorry the pictures are up at the top of the post...I am very new to this blog thing.

Not enough hours...

How is it possible that it is Saturday already? This week has been a whirlwind. I am getting so excited about the big reveal of the site and the kits going up for sale. I am feeling a little overwhelmed, but in reality it's such a blessing. I am so grateful to be embarking on this big adventure! This is one of the biggest passions of my life, and to get to do what I LOVE everyday is a gift. Not many people can say that they love what they do. I am working my fingers to the bone to make Freehand Scraps spectacular! Here's hoping you have a great rest of your weekend!

Here we go...

Well here I am embarking on a journey into this big world of blogging. It seems I am that very last person to get on the blog train, but I am going to give this a shot. I think it will prove to be a great "journal" so to speak of events. I also like that technology has made it so much easier to connect with people. I will be posting photos of the kids and cute things they said, and basically just telling our life's story. Along with it I would like to include ideas for creating and being creative. I have been inspired by others blogs to try new recipes, make crafts, take photo's, change my perspective, and try new scrapbook techniques. I hope to do the same here, as well as keep everyone up to date on the latest news from Freehand Scraps. I will have sneak peeks and giveaways and a lot of fun things in store. So I hope to get to know you, as you get to know me here: "WHERE IT'S AT."
