Gallery!

Okay I know that I live in the Midwest...but this weather is going to be the end of me. It's snowing AgAiN. We are supposedly getting another 6-9 inches. I'm not even going to pretend that I'm okay with it. It's beautiful to watch outside...but not beautiful to drive in! And so since we are talking about the snow...here's a snowy page I made for this month's gallery. I really loved the patterned paper in this kit. There was so much variety!
I trimmed a few of the snowy trees to add to the corner of the photo. This was the first time I've included Collage Press products in our kits. Do you love them?
This Thickers alpha needed some detail I thought so I added a few polka dots with a pigment ink marker. I think it might have looked better had I painted them on.

Here's a close up of my journaling. I need to take this to heart today. I should repeat it over and over again. I love that little red bird on the snowy tree branch. We have cardinals everywhere here. They look stunning against the white snow.

And this layout is titled "Pure Joy." Well because that is what Chloe is...pure joy. She has brought a joy to my life that was lacking before. She is just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside and that look in her eye in one of these shots, perfectly captures her personality.

Yep, this is the look. Makes this mommas heart melt. :)

And lastly a super simple card using the Jillibean patterned kraft paper as the card base, along with a few Hambly doily rub-ons (so cute) and a tag from the sheet of Cosmo Cricket cardstock stickers.

My dear friend Lexi has posted on her blog a quick recap of CHA. Um...let's just say if you would like to see me rolling around on the ground in a bunch of feathers in a dress with my cowgirl boots on...then you will have to take a peek. I told her that her CHA post was a lot more fun than mine! But I still can't believe she posted that shot! Too funny! Hope you all had a beautiful NON-snowy Monday. We are praying for a snow day here tomorrow! :)

Newsletter!

Whew...it's here. Newsletter time!

Freehand Scraps Newsletter

Happy February! Time for another newsletter (and a BIG sale!) I am thrilled to introduce you to our latest kit for February “Long Johns.” If you live in a warmer climate (lucky ducks) this name may not be appropriate for your situation. However here in the Midwest, or as I like to call it the “frozen tundra,” you’d be happy as a clam in some long johns! It feels even colder here now that I spent a week in sunny California at CHAW. I have learned that I am definitely a warm weather kind of person. The cozy colors in this kit and flannel fabric all contribute to its charm. Don’t you think?

This kit is absolutely packed with patterned paper, you could make SO many projects using them. If you haven’t had a chance to see the design team gallery yet, you must! The girls outdid themselves this month! Beautiful! Here is a sweet card by our guest designer Celeste Smith and a layout made by design team member Amanda Smith.

I was in California last week with design team members, Lexi Bridges and Samantha Sibbet for CHAW (the big scrapbook trade show.) We came, we saw, we shopped…all in an effort to find the latest and greatest products the scrapbooking world has to offer. It was a huge success! And since we are going to have lots of new products rolling in we are having a big sale to make room for it all!

“As many of you know, we just got back from an exciting trip to CHAW (the Craft and Hobby Association's winter show) where we found all kinds of wonderful products for our upcoming kits. Now that the orders have been placed and the products are starting to arrive, we need to make room for all of it! We are excited to be offering a 40% discount on all of our past 2008 and 2009 kits. It's simple, and a GREAT deal! The only way to take advantage of this offer is to email me at heidi@freehandscraps.com and I will email you a PayPal invoice to take care of the cost. The standard shipping rates apply. (The first kit has a $7 flat rate for shipping, but each kit after that is only an additional $1.50 in shipping cost!) Be sure to take advantage of this special limited time offer!”

And as always I want to thank each and every one of you for your continued support of Freehand Scraps! I have the best customers!

Gallery shots and a gift!

I'm STILL working on a newsletter...be patient with me...I have been ambushed by the to-do list! I have visited the post office not once but twice today (as MANY of you are taking advantage of our GREAT sale! Thank you very much!) I am working like mad to keep up:) So I wanted to share a few things from my gallery today. The first is an altered 3 dimensional letter "C" that I made for Chloe's room. Her middle name is Saige so I added her initials freehand cut from some of the patterned paper in the kit. (This kit is loaded with paper...I think it has more patterned paper than any other kit EVER!) I love this pink wood grain patterned paper!
I used a Hambly doily rub on underneath to make the letters pop and also pop dotted the cardstock birdie sticker to give it some dimension. The button was the final touch...with a small piece of fabric threaded through and tied instead of thread.
Now for the real talent of the day. Right when I got home from California I had a package delivered containing this GORGEOUS quilt that was a birthday present from a very special friend of mine. Amanda Smith (who also happens to be on our DT) must know me better than I know myself because this quilt is exactly perfectly perfect! I couldn't have made it myself and loved it as much as this one! (Let me rephrase that...I couldn't have made it period, because I don't know how to quilt.) But each fabric is just so "me." All the colors are exactly what I love and I must admit that I started crying when I opened it because I felt SO loved. Seriously, who has the time these days to make something so thoughtful and time-consuming! Not Amanda that's for sure, as she has her hands very full with 2 little ones running around. I know the time that was sacrificed to make it and it makes it even MORE special!

So I have to send a HUGE thank you out to Amanda...you are just the best! I love it, love it, LOVE it! (All these images were stolen from her blog too:) Every time I wrap myself up in it...I feel like it's a great big hug from my precious friend. And it just doesn't get any better than that friends, it's as good as it gets.
Aren't you jealous? She seriously should go into business!! She also makes these for babies out of flannel in a smaller size.
I hope you all had a happy day! I am off to get working on the newsletter...really...I mean it...and I will post it here as well. HUGS!

Home again...

Well I made it home. Exhausted and shopped out, but with lots of wonderful upcoming kits planned out! I had a great time with Lexi and Samantha, and I even got to meet up with one of my childhood friends who I hadn't seen in 20+ years. It was unforgettable! (You girls are just the best! I loved our time together!) I think I gained 4 pounds from all of our Inn-N-Out burger stops, and I felt like I walked at least 100 miles on the show floor, but somehow I managed to have a great time through it all. I don't know how I did it, but somehow I managed. *smirk*
This is a shot of me and one of my BFF's Lindee who I hadn't seen in 20+ years...we just had the best time ever. She is exactly who she was in the first grade when I met her. We vowed that it wouldn't be another 20 years before we met up again. She is one of those friends that you feel close to (like you could tell her anything) no matter how much time has passed since we were together. I loooove this girl!
And now for a few sneak peeks from my gallery!! Oh yes, it's that time again. Time for a new kit! Long Johns will be up for sale first thing in the morning at 8:00 a.m. CST!

I loved this alphabet. Fabric is my friend! :)
I think most of our DT has posted sneak peeks on their blogs also...so check theirs out and come back to see the full reveal tomorrow! Hope you had a great weekend!

CHA part 2...

I have seen so many wonderful things here! Having a blast...here's a peek at Cosmo Cricket's booth! So cute!

This was from the Pink Paislee booth.

This is from Hambly's booth.

Love these darling rub-ons!

And here is a lovely layout by our very own Jaime Warren at the Prima booth. SO pretty.

This was the 7 Gypsies booth. Always a favorite. I loved what this sign said! "In order to be irrecplacable on must always be different."

Here is another Hambly layout by Dina Wakely, who I just love.
FFor this she trimmed around the doily paper and added a wooden hoop to make a wall hanging.
This was my favotie display item at the 7 Gypsies booth. Yumm!

And here's a few more images from the Girls Loft line that's new by Advantus. I love the flags on sticks..

And last but definitley not least...a sneak peek of what's to come in February's kit! Hope you have a great night...I'm off to the last day of the show in the morning! :)
