She's Three...

A little book I put together for her...and now 2 years later finally finished it up. (What in the world?!) Figured I better get it done before her next batch of party pics got developed! LOL! We are in full party planning mode around here...and she is loving every minute of it!

Notice the Sassafras Lass stitched button flower being used here...are you proud of me? No hoarding around here! LOL

Party Invites!

I am finally happy with what I made...(thanks to my mom and her clip art!) She emailed me a few dogs from the clip art she has on her computer and that is how I came up with the basic shape for the puppy. It was a simple shape and I was able to sketch it. I made a template with cardstock for the head shape and the ears and just traced them onto the brown cardstock. Cut them all out and started the assembly. I wanted to use these Heidi Swapp polka dot file folders that I had left over from our April 2008 kit (and this way I didn't need envelopes also!)
Hmmm...another Heidi Swapp product! The "sweet" ribbon. Some of the invites had aqua loops underneath...and others had white. Just for a pop of color (and that loopy paper is a sneak peek of what's to come for November!)
One with white...very girly. We invited some boys too so the aqua ones went to them. Although when I handed it to one of the little boys at Sunday School the others were teasing him about his "girl card." Oh well. I couldn't help myself with those pink polka dot folders!

The inside of the folder...and yet another Heidi Swapp product (the little Saturday journaling spot.) Again, I coordinated the loops on the tag with the puppy to match what was on the cover of the invite.

And a close up shot of the puppy...which I used pop dots underneath the tag to pop it off the folder. Very cute. (Cuter in real life than these photos show.)

I will now embark on making party hats for the party-goers. More puppies to cut out!! Although I am planning to purchase the solid colored hats at the party store and just embellish them. We are so excited for the party! My family is coming for the big event and will be here this week. So if blogging is sporadic you will know why! LOL! I will be back to share the finished album I worked on at the crop this weekend tomorrow. It turned out cute too! Hope you all had a great weekend!

Oh I wish...

Wish that my handwriting was this beautiful! It's a powerful tool for a scrapbooker and I'm totally jealous of those gifted with this talent! (source: neither snow)
Just imagine the scrapbook layouts...kind of Heidi Swapp style? I would never need to buy another font...or alpha (unless of course it was something chipboard! LOL)
I went to a crop last night and plan to share a few things I got accomplished...and today I am working on making Chloe's party invites...cross your fingers for me though...nothing I've made so far has been the way I envisioned it! Be back later!

From so-so to spooktacular!

(Good gravy...I think that's the silliest title I've ever posted.) Tanner is the snack person on Friday so after school today we went to work on transforming the blah peanut butter crackers into something much more fun. We found the silly rubber mice in the dollar bins at Target (gotta love that place!) which were 4 for $1.00. We plopped them on the top of the crackers...added a colorful bow...and a stamped pumpkin. Viola! (Please excuse the picture quality...we have had rain all day and that makes for sad looking pictures!)

Here is the stamp I used from (yet again) the dollar bins at Target...these were from a year ago last fall, so don't go looking for them! I chose to stamp them onto orange paper (from the Oct. kit) instead of coloring each one in.
Then I cut them out...and tucked them under the nose of the mouse. Tanner was thinking of writing his classmates names on each one. I voted no on that because I didn't want it to take him an hour to pass them all out! LOL. His next idea was that he color Halloween pictures and make "place mats" for everyone to eat off of. Ah, my little artist...any excuse to draw!!

I also just had to give a big SHOUT OUT to Celeste Smith a former DT member here at Freehand Scraps. She had one of her gallery layouts (using our January kit "Spiffy") chosen to be on the cover of Scrapbook Trends magazine October issue!! Congratulations Celeste! So honored that it was using one of our kits!
And speaking of this fabulous "Spiffy" kit...I happen to have a few of them sitting here if any of you are interested...it was one of my favorites! Have a great night!

Hello everyone! I am super excited to introduce you to Samantha Sibbet who is a member of our DT here. She has a fun tutorial to share with all of you today! This project is a piece from her gallery this month using October's kit "Arbor Drive." Here is the final product and the steps are listed below it! Seriously cute!

1) materials
cutting mat
frame
patterned paper
craft knife
glue, I like Beacon's 3 in 1 craft glue

2)Apply glue to the entire front of the frame, be sure to get close to the inside and outside edges. Affix to the backside of patterned paper. Let dry.

3) Using the craft knife, cut along the inside edge of the frame.

4) Carefully pull out the patterned paper.

5)Cut along the outside edge of your frame.

6) Use a piece of sandpaper or a sanding block to gently sand the edges of the frame.

7) Use the frame's cardboard backing and a light source to figure out where to cut your photo to fit in the frame. I placed the oval size backer behind my photo and held it up to a desk lamp to find the center. I added a piece of double sided tape to keep it from moving around.

8)With a craft knife or scissors, cut your photo along the edge of the backer.

9) Insert the photo and add embellishments! I used a few Prima pearls,
Cosmo Cricket Earth Love chipboard, buttons and Pink Paislee alphas

Voila! Isn't it pretty? What a fun gift to give to someone...or to hang in your home. Thanks so much Samantha for your inspiration! World Card Making Day!

Since yesterday was World Card Making Day...I played along and limited myself to only using scraps from kits that I had laying around my desk. I could make another 2o cards with all of my extra bits and pieces...seriously! (I made these in lieu of cleaning the bathrooms. LOL. It was an easy choice!) Here is what I finished...

This one is for a sweet friend who is due any day with her first baby...

There are about 4 different shades of green on this one...but somehow it all works for me! The paper is from Oct's kit "Arbor Drive" and also Aug's kit "Happy Go Lucky!"

This one is using mostly August's "Happy Go Lucky" kit except the Sassafras Lass stitched blossoms which I have been hoarding since our May of 2008 kit "The Thicket." Am I the only one who loves something SO much they can hardly bring themselves to use it up? LOL

Those flowers make me swoon. Seriously!

A birthday card...very simple using pink gems and the felt trees from "Arbor Drive."
I like how you can really see the texture and "fuzziness" in this close up shot. I trimmed the pink tree to the size I wanted for some variety.
One of my favorites. A layered Sass. Lass flower with fabric I cut into the shape of a flower with a Heidi Swapp chipboard clock on top. The orange ribbon and patterned paper are in this month's kit "Arbor Drive."

And now for a few pages from my gallery...first up is my slipper girl page. Which has a page from the latest J Crew catalog I got in the mail on it. The journaling reads "I love fashion. I like to dress in the latest trends...I get these catalogs in the mail and I love the colors and textures...I do. But at home it's jeans and slippers for me!" In an effort to document more about myself in our albums, I made this layout. (I think it would be SO cool to see a page done like this in my Grandma's scrapbook. I wonder what she was like when she was my age? And the fun thing about fashion is that the trends tend to repeat themselves...)

Isn't this the cutest alphabet? Cosmo Cricket just makes some of the cutest things ever! Love it!
I layered a few of the felt "trees" from American Crafts and added one of the buttons to the top for a unique little embellishment.

And speaking of slippers I think these are the cutest slippers I have just about ever seen! They are calling my name! Mine are totally worn out...at least 4 years old.

The last layout here is another one I threw together at the last minute. (Literally.)
I thought the Fancy Pants glitter frame looked like stained-glass...so I wanted a white background. (Not in the kit...so shame on me! LOL) I used the Heidi Swapp mask with the polka dots to paint the green dots along the edge, I also used the Cosmo Cricket chipboard butterfly (from Augusts "Happy Go Lucky" kit) as a mask and sprayed Maya Mist over it. I think it adds a little flair.I added a little row of buttons and American Crafts Flair buttons and the "be" letters. To finish it off I painted 2 of the chipboard Maya Road houses to look like arrows and framed the row.
